We found him!
Pete Puhich is in the ballroom today as he attempts to keep his two Horse Player World Series entries in the top two positions.
So far, so good for the 59-year-old retired Boeing line mechanic.
Puhich has made two plays today—using the same horses on both of his entries—and has cashed a 10-1 winner (Starship Apache) in the 3rd at Gulfstream , and a 5-1 winner (Ring Knocker) in the 2nd at Aqueduct. He plans to use the same horses on both of his tickets for his 13 remaining plays as well.
“I’m trying to take it all,” he said calmly.
If the name “Puhich” sounds familiar, it should. Pete is the cousin of California trainer and farm director Michael Puhich, who Pete says “taught me everything I know”.
It was a late night last night for Pete. He stayed up handicapping until 2:00 am, and then got back up at 4:00 am, to review everything.
If today is anything for Pete like Thursday and Friday, it will be time very well spent.
