You don’t need to be a dad to love Father’s Day at HorseTourneys and HorsePlayers. But if you are a dad, just tell your family that you only want two things for Father’s Day: peace and quiet. Then fire up your computer and play to your heart’s content. There are no fewer than 10 significant Sunday games—and some very nice ones on Friday and Saturday as well.
The Friday feature is the $7,500 Guaranteed Pick & Pray with $3,750 to the winner and payouts down to fifth place. Entry is $190 with a limit of 44 entrants. Contest races are the 6th, 8th and 9th from Churchill Downs; the 5th through 8th from Woodbine; and the 2nd through 4th from Arlington—10 races in all.
On Saturday, the first of the weekend’s two NHC qualifiers will take place at HorsePlayers.
It’s a live-format game with up to three seats offered and two guaranteed. Entry fee is $165. Contest races are the 5th through 8th at Belmont; the 1st, 4th and 5th from Santa Anita; the 7th, 9th and 10th from Monmouth; and the 8th and 9th from Woodbine—12 races in all.
Here at HorseTourneys on Saturday we have our popular $15,000 Guaranteed game (a Pick & Pray this week) with $7,000 to the winner and payouts down to seventh place. Entry is $195 with a limit of 86 entrants. Contest races are the 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th from Woodbine, the 7th, 9th and 10th from Monmouth; and the 3rd, 5th and 9th from Arlington—10 races total.
There are also four featured qualifying events at HorseTourneys that could earn you a spot at the Wynn Handicapping Challenge, the Monmouth NHC Super Qualifier on Travers Day, the Hawthorne Summer NHC Qualifiers or the Gold Coast Summer Classic. Or all four. The four qualifiers are all Pick & Pray events so if you really like your picks and feel like being bold, go for it!
And don’t forget about our $1,500 Guaranteed Saturday Night Live tourney.
This week’s should be especially fun. It closes at 8:35 pm ET and features five races from Churchill Downs (which has a 6:00 pm local first post), including the Grade I Stephen Foster Handicap.
On to Sunday.
We wouldn’t necessarily recommend playing every single one of our featured games on Father’s Day—only because there are 10 of them and that could get pricey. But that also means there are plenty to pick from.
HorsePlayers has a pair of co-featured tourneys, led by a special NHC-BCBC Combo tourney for $344. Win this live-format contest and you win full spots to both the NHC and the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge.
If you want to focus more squarely on the BCBC on Sunday, you can because HorsePlayers is also offering a live-format BCBC qualifier for $179. This tourney is guaranteed to go, regardless of participation.
At HorseTourneys on Sunday, another eight featured games are on tap.
Father’s Day will bring with it two of the Sunday staples: the $10,000 Guaranteed game (Pick & Pray this week) with $5,000 to the victor and prizes down to fifth place. And the $1,500 Guaranteed Exacta game (live format as always) with $600 going to the winner.
There are also six qualifiers to live events, led by a doubly rewarding guaranteed qualifier to The BIG One in September at Laurel.
This qualifier is doubly rewarding because it will now award the top two finishers all–inclusive packages to the September 23-24 event, including travel, hotel, welcome banquet, open bar and buffet and more. The entry fee on Sunday for this is $550, and it will be a Pick & Pray.
Another interesting game is our first qualifier to the Santa Anita Closing Weekend tourneys. These two separate tourneys will be held on July 1 and 2. Win our $174 qualifier and you will earn a $3,000 entry good for whichever day you choose.
We’ll also have qualifiers for events farther down the West Coast—the July 14-16 Surfside tournaments ($98 entry fee) and the Del Mar Handicapping Challenge ($350). Win the Del Mar Handicapping Challenge qualifier and you will not only earn a $7,000 entry, you become eligible for a $10,000 HorseTourneys site credit bonus should you finish first at Del Mar on July 29-30. It would be silly to attempt to qualify for Del Mar anywhere else!
For those whose sole focus is $800,000, fame and an Eclipse Award…not to worry, there is also an NHC Pick & Pray on Sunday with two seats guaranteed and up to four available, depending on participation. This one costs $165. Or, for $118, you could take a swing at qualifying to the Arlington Handicapping Challenge. One in 25 entries will win a $2,000 entry plus $500 in travel.
Whichever of our many tourneys tickle your fancy, we wish you luck—and an enjoyable weekend wherever you spend it.
