When it’s a big weekend on the racing calendar, HorseTourneys comes prepared. With the Pegasus World Cup set for Saturday at Gulfstream, we are pleased to offer an up-to-$100,000 live tournament with $70,000 guaranteed.
There’s also another exciting qualifier on Sunday for The BIG One, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Friday shapes up as a pretty good day too.
You can get fully limbered up for Saturday—and perhaps develop some positive mojo—by participating in our three Friday staples: An up-to-$10,000 Pick & Pray with $6,000 Guaranteed; a Horse Player World Series entry-only qualifier; and a Treasure Island NHC Last Chance qualifier.
There are also four NHC qualifiers on tap this weekend and three of them are at HorsePlayers, starting with Friday’s regular NHC qualifier with one seat guaranteed.
All four of the above events are work-friendly Pick & Prays and will use the 6th, 7th and 8th from Laurel; the 6th through 10th from Gulfstream; and the 8th and 9th from Tampa Bay Downs—10 races all together.
On Saturday, we blow things out with a 15-race featured schedule—and these aren’t just any 15 races. Eleven of them—including all five at Gulfstream and all three at Laurel—are stakes, topped by the $16 million Pegasus World Cup.
Top billing among our contests goes, of course, to the up-to-$100,000 live-format competition. The total purse is guaranteed to be at least $70,000, and should we attract the maximum of 161 entries and reach a $100,000 pot, the winner will earn $40,000.
Using the same 15-race slate, we’ll also offer a Saturday full-package qualifier to the Horse Player World Series at The Orleans (a Pick & Pray) with an entry fee of $117. Winners (one per 25 entries) receive a $1,500 berth plus four nights’ hotel and another $500 for travel.
There’s also a Saturday Pick & Pray offering a guaranteed seat to the 2018 NHC. This will be the final 2018 NHC qualifier offered at HorseTourneys (though more will still be offered at HorsePlayers).
Speaking of HorsePlayers, Saturday offers a $500 NHC Super Qualifier.
We’re back to a more customary number of contest races for this tourney—12. (It’s the same schedule as that of the $100,000 tourney, minus the three from Laurel.)
In all honesty, Sunday has a tough act to follow. But you’ll certainly want to take precautions against a Pegasus hangover given that we’ll be hosting a very full schedule led by our second qualifier to the 2018 The BIG One.
As per the custom this year, two seats will be guaranteed in Sunday’s qualifier to The BIG One regardless of how many participate. (There is a limit of 50 entries.) Finish in the top two and you will join Bruce Dagostini and Karl Barth on the list of those with all-inclusive packages already locked up to the year’s “High Expectation” contest with 10 NHC seats, 10 BCBC seats and another 10 Horse Player World Series entries distributed amongst a field that will number no more than 57.
On Sunday, we’ll also offer Pick & Pray entry-only qualifiers to the Horse Player World Series (entry fee: $87) and the NHC Last Chance tournament at Treasure Island ($58).
Cash game specialists will be busyl with our up-to-$20,000 Pick & Pray (with $12,000 guaranteed) and our up-to-$5,000 Exacta tourney ($2,000 guaranteed in this always-live-format game), where you select a three-horse, $1 exacta box in every race.
Over at HorsePlayers, there’s the second NHC Super Qualifier in as many days.
So if Pegasus World Cup Day doesn’t treat you well, you can come right back at ‘em here, competing in an NHC qualifier in which the winning ratio is just one in 21.
Low-cost feeders, of course remain available right up through early Saturday for our up-to-$100,000 event and through early Sunday for our The BIG One qualifier. So a small budget doesn’t mean you can’t take a shot at the big money.
Mike Yurczyk, George Henning, Anthony “Doczilla” Trezza, Ken Jordan, Eric Piniero, Grier Bibby, Shane Muscarello, Frank McGoey, Yolanda Labordo, Nathaniel Gines, John Gaspar, Mark Urbanski and Dennis Decauwer will definitely be taking a shot at the big money on Saturday. And we’re rooting for all of them to win.
That’s because they are the 13 HorseTourneys qualifiers participating in Saturday’s Pegasus World Cup Betting Championship.
Whether you’re at Gulfstream for the Pegasus, watching it on TV on NBC, or just hanging out with your laptop, we hope you’ll play in a contest or two. We’ll try to make an already-big weekend just that much more fun and exciting. Good luck!
