Tourney Updates

We have updates to share with you regarding four of our regular tourneys. We think they are all positive developments, so we are eager to get them onto your radar screen.

Our first-ever Jackpot Survivor game was very well attended. The no-limit pot was $675 (up from a guaranteed amount of $250), and two players nearly hit the jackpot right out of the box. Charles Nelson and Bobby Snowden got all the way to the final contest race before they each failed to pick an in-the-money horse.

We had originally planned to offer these Jackpot Survivor games only on Saturdays, but based on last weekend’s response, we’ve decided to be a little more aggressive. So we’ll be offering these wallet-friendly $7 games five days a week on Wednesdays through Saturdays.

They will continue to be single-track games, and this coming Wednesday, the track will be Keeneland. That means, at least where this Wednesday is concerned, you will only have eight races to “survive” rather than the usual nine in order to win or share the jackpot. The jackpot, by the way, increases by 2% of handle each day that it goes unhit. So Wednesday’s jackpot will be $1,015.

This Friday, you will see what we hope are two welcome changes/additions.

One pertains to our Friday featured cash game. The event has sold out each of the last four Fridays as an up-to-$10,000 Pick & Pray with $6,000 Guaranteed. So we’re raising the stakes.

It’s now going to be—starting this Friday—an up-to-$12,500 Pick & Pray with $7,000 Guaranteed. One thing we are not changing is the entry fee. It’s still $190.

The other change set for Friday is in regard to the popular Saratoga Challenge (held for the first time this year on a Friday-Saturday). Qualifiers for this important onsite contest will now be offered at HorseTourneys on Fridays as well as on Sundays.

So now you will have two weekly bites at the Saratoga apple. (Although to be clear, the Saratoga region is not considered part of “The Big Apple,” which has always been more of a New York City thing.) We hope that this will be good for you and also that it will help build an even more exciting two days of competition this August up at the Spa.

Last but not least, you can mark down April 28 as the date of our first qualifier to the Del Mar Handicapping Challenge.

This year’s renewal takes place on July 28-29, and each HorseTourneys qualifier winner will receive an $8,000 entry plus an additional $500 for travel. Our qualifiers will carry an entry fee of $400 with one in 25 earning the coveted ticket to Del Mar.

Thank you for your continued support of HorseTourneys. If you have any suggestions on things we could be doing better, please don’t hesitate to let us know at support@horsetourneys.com.
