Jeffrey Harryman Wins Laurel Champions Tournament

Jeffrey Harryman turned a starting bankroll of $200 into $2,214.50 to win the Laurel Champions Tournament at Laurel Park on Saturday, August 18. Harryman won a $10,000 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge entry, a cash bonus of $2,790, plus his final bankroll total was his to keep. His total return: cash and prizes worth $15,004.50.

Finishing second with a final total of $1,786.40 was Sean Nolan, who selected an all-inclusive berth to the September 22-23 The BIG One (also held at Laurel) as his tournament prize. Nolan also received a cash bonus of $1,860 and kept his final bankroll total as well.

Finishing third and fourth in the 193-entry tournament were John Kousouris ($1,404) and Gary Wright ($1,381). They each received NHC berths and cash bonuses of $930 and $558, respectively, in addition to their final bankroll totals.

The 5th- through 10th-place finishers also received cash bonuses of $558.

The Laurel Champions Tourney required contestants to make at least 10 win, place or show bets of at least $20 each from races at the available contest tracks, which were Laurel, Saratoga, Gulfstream, Woodbine and Monmouth. Entries cost $300 each, with $100 going to the prize pool. There was a limit of two entries per person.
