Introducing the $100,000 Guaranteed Spa & Surf Showdown

HorseTourneys is delighted to announce the latest exclusive addition to its online tournament portfolio: The $100,000 guaranteed Spa & Surf Showdown on Saturday and Sunday, August 3rd and 4th, right here at HorseTourneys.

The special two-day, online cash tournament (live format) will focus strictly on the full cards from Saratoga Race Course and Del Mar, with players required to make a mythical $2.00 win and place election in each race from both tracks on Saturday and Sunday. Scores carry over from Saturday to Sunday and final standings are determined by the best two-day scoring totals. As usual, an odds cap of 20-1 for win plays and 10-1 for place plays will be in effect, and only one $2.00 win and place play may be made per race.

The entry fee for the Spa & Surf Showdown has been set at $2,000, and there will be a maximum of two entries permitted per account. The purse is guaranteed to be at least $100,000, and the final amount could be more than that, depending on participation levels.

The first direct qualifier to the Spa & Surf Showdown will be held on Sunday, January 20, and feeders to that qualifier will begin immediately.

Qualifiers will carry an entry fee of $113 with one entry per 20 earning a $2,000 berth in the Spa & Surf Showdown. The buy-in for feeders will be $26, with one in five receiving an entry to the corresponding qualifier.

Entries to the Spa & Surf Showdown are transferable—so if an individual earns more than two entries via qualifiers, or is unable to play his or her entry/entries in August, entries may be transferred to another party in advance of the tourney.

“A gap in the contest calendar seemed to have been unintentionally created with the discontinuation of the popular Wynn tournament, and I hope players will find that the Spa & Surf Showdown helps fill that void to some extent,” said HorseTourneys president McKay Smith. “With some of the best racing of the year serving as the backdrop, we are extremely excited to host this high-stakes tourney this summer.”
