BCBC Qualifiers Back at HorsePlayers

NHC fever abounds, and that’s understandable given that the 20th edition of the event is just a week away. But that shouldn’t serve to obscure the return to HorsePlayers of qualifiers to the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC).

The 2019 BCBC takes place on November 1 and 2, and HorseTourneys qualifiers receive full $10,000 entries to the high-end, live-bankroll event. Depending on participation, qualifiers also offer partial $5,000 entries to runners up as breakage prizes. If you win a couple of these “partials,” it’s every bit as good as winning a full one at another time.

A full BCBC entry starts a player out with a $7,500 live bankroll (with the remaining $2,500 going to the BCBC prize pool) to wager on the best, most competitive races of the year. Of course, you can play from the site of the Breeders’ Cup—Santa Anita, this year. Or, if you prefer, you can compete at a satellite location or via Xpressbet.com. You don’t have to travel far if you don’t want to.

No matter from where you play, the BCBC prize pool includes a lot of cash–$1 million to be precise, should there be 400 entries. There’s more where that came from, however.

The top 20 finishers all receive NHC berths too, provided that they’re not already double qualified. Charles Grubbs, Ed Abel, Monte Engler, Ryan Mueller, Allen Harberg, Rich Pawlowski, Ron Bowden, Brent Johnson, Doug Nachman, Kenneth King, Steven Shaffer, Ronald Milchhoeffer, Nick Fazzolari, Dan Cronin and Scott Trabucco will all be at the NHC next week armed with entries earned at last year’s BCBC. None of them will have more riding on the NHC outcome than Charles Grubbs, who will earn a $3 million BCBC-NHC bonus should he follow up his $394,020 triumph at the BCBC with victory at the NHC.

So the BCBC is clearly fun and potentially lucrative, but the BCBC qualifiers at HorsePlayers also happen to be a pretty good deal.

The two guaranteed qualifiers offered this weekend carry entry fees of $179 (regular qualifier) and $500 (low ratio qualifier). The $179 qualifier, with one winner per each 65 entries, is operated at a takeout rate of 14%. The $500 super qualifier pays off a winner per every 23 entries, and it carries a takeout of just 13%. Qualifiers at additional price points will be offered throughout the year, as will low-cost feeders that can make the cost of a BCBC seat as little as $20.

Whether you prefer lower entry fees or lower winning ratios, every HorsePlayers qualifier allows you to earn a BCBC entry from the convenience of your own desktop, laptop or mobile device.

Earning a BCBC seat in a HorsePlayers qualifier is never easy, but now may be a particularly good time to give it a whirl when a great many of the top contest players are understandably preoccupied with the NHC. All qualifiers guarantee at least one $10,000 seat regardless of overall participation.

Great prizes, solid value and good fun. You’ll find it all at the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge—and in BCBC qualifiers at HorsePlayers too.
