The Stage is Set for the $100,000 Guaranteed Flo-Cal Faceoff on February 29-March 1

It’s hard to believe, but the inaugural Flo-Cal Faceoff is now just two weeks away.

The newest big-money, online cash game at HorseTourneys will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 29 and March 1. The Flo-Cal Faceoff is a live-format, all-mandatory tourney with a guaranteed purse of $100,000 and no limit as to how high the purse can grow beyond that pre-specified minimum. The buy-in is $1,500, and low-cost feeders are still available between now and the end of the month should you prefer not to buy in for the full amount now.

Faceoff contestants will be required to make a mythical $2 win and place play on every race of the Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita Park cards on each of the two days. Saturday, February 29th will be an especially big day of racing at Gulfstream with that day’s Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes for 3-year-olds serving as just one of nine stakes races to be run at the Hallandale, Fla., oval that afternoon.

HorseTourneys “regulars” may have noted that the Flo-Cal Faceoff is modeled closely after last August’s Spa & Surf Showdown, in which renowned tournament competitor Paul Shurman of Dix Hills, N.Y., won $109,000 by defeating 153 rivals in the two-day, all-mandatory tourney that featured full-card action from Saratoga and Del Mar.

There’s a brand new element, however, that we’ve added to the Flo-Cal Faceoff: Day money. A total of $20,000 ($10,000 each day) will be paid to the top three daily finishers on a $6,500/$2,500/$1,500 basis.

As with all “pool style” events at HorseTourneys, the first-prize amount and the number of places paid will be a function of the number of entries. The “hold” for this event is a player-friendly 11.5% (unless. of course, the event doesn’t fill…in which case the expected ROI will be even better for players because we’ll be paying out at least $100,000 no matter what.)

As noted earlier, you can purchase an entry now for $1,500–or you can attempt to win a spot via feeders and/or qualifiers. Qualifiers cost $86 per entry; feeders to those qualifiers are just $20. Please note that entries in the Faceoff are limited to two per account.

So mark your calendars for the end of the month. It should be fun…and it will definitely be lucrative.
