Last Chances for NHC and Pegasus Merit Top Billing Among 21 Featured Tourneys This Weekend

Our featured-tourney schedule stays largely consistent from week to week, so we tend to begin these previews with what’s special relative to last week or next week. This week, that means we need to focus on the Pegasus World Cup Betting Championship and the NHC.

As many of you know, the Pegasus takes place on Saturday, and we’ll be offering a qualifier to it even on Pegasus Eve as part of our Friday featured schedule.

This Last Chance Pegasus Pick & Pray carries an entry fee of $384. One of every 20 entrants will earn a $6,500 package and move on to the next day’s Pegasus competition where you’ll be firing away with a $5,000 live bankroll. Please note—on-track seating at Gulfstream has already been spoken for, so anyone who wins a Pegasus entry going forward must participate through Xpressbet. It is the player’s responsibility to ensure that he or she has an Xpressbet account and is, thus, eligible to play in the Pegasus.

Of a less pressing nature (but every bit as fun, we hope) is the $200,000 Guaranteed Players Championship here on April 2-3. We’ll have three qualifiers to it here on Friday—a multitrack qualifier, plus two play-ins that involve just the full cards from Gulfstream and Santa Anita, respectively. All three qualifiers have an entry fee of $156 and one of every 15 contestants in them earn $2,000 entries to what is the middle leg of the Tourney Triple…which offers top performers seats to such events as the NHC, the BCBC and The BIG One. In the Players Championship, you’ll be making 15 plays each day from 30 “All Optional Live” contest races.

Cash is always an important component of the Friday schedule thanks to our $15,000 Guaranteed No Limit Pick & Pray. The entry fee here is $190.

The featured tourney at HorsePlayers on Friday is one that’s sure to be popular.

It’s a $75 NHC qualifier with two seats guaranteed—and considerable 2020 NHC Tour Points all but guaranteed. It’s a Pick & Pray.

Contest races for the Friday multitrack features are the 7th through 10th from Gulfstream; the 7th and 8th at Aqueduct; and the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th from Santa Anita—10 races in all.

That $75 NHC qualifier is essentially a “next to last chance” event, because your last chance to qualify online for August’s NHC—and to earn 2020 Tour points in the process—comes on Saturday at HorsePlayers.

Saturday is the final day of the 2020 NHC Tour year, and this NHC “last chancer” is a Pick & Pray with a $100 entry fee and a winning ratio of 1 per 100. The result of this one may have a lot to say regarding who wins the 2020 NHC Tour (currently led by Dylan Donnelly) and who gets the last few of those 75 guaranteed NHC seats for Tour members not otherwise qualified.

There’s also a Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge qualifier on Saturday at HorsePlayers. It’s a $179 Pick & Pray with a winning ratio of 1 per 65 and one $10,000 entry certain to be awarded.

Here at HorseTourneys, the Saturday featured schedule is dominated by cash games and Players Championship qualifiers.

Again, there will be three Players Championship play-ins this day. One on the full, Pegasus-day card at Gulfstream, one on Santa Anita and one of the multitrack variety. Each one costs $156 to enter and has a winning ratio of 1 in 15. Note that there is an early 11:40 am ET first post at Gulfstream on Saturday.

There are three marquee cash tourneys here on Saturday.

The richest tourney of the weekend here is Saturday’s $25,000 Guaranteed No Limit game. The entry fee is $260, and the format this week is Pick & Pray.

Another cash Pick & Pray is Saturday’s “up-to-$20,000” Big Bucks game. The purse is guaranteed at $10,000, and entries are limited to 20 (unless we get a late arrival or two via last-minute Saturday feeders). Payoffs go only to the top three finishers with the winner earning 70 percent of the net pool, the runner up getting 20 percent, and the third-place finisher picking up the remaining 10 percent.

The carryover into Saturday’s $15 Pick 4 Jackpot tourney is now up to five figures—$10,549. If you go four-for-four in this Pick & Pray, you win or share the Jackpot. Meanwhile, 70% of the net pool gets paid out to players via the traditional $2.00 win/place scoring system. (The other 30% goes to the Jackpot pool.) Entries in these Jackpot Pick 4 games are limited to three per person.

If on Sunday you have a Pegasus or NHC Tour hangover, we have just the tonic.

For the second straight day, the featured schedule here at Horse Tourneys is comprised of three $156 Players Championship qualifiers (one Gulfstream, one Santa Anita and one multitrack competition) and three cash games.

The richest of those marquee money matchups is Sunday’s $20,000 Guaranteed No Limit Pick & Pray. The entry fee is $195.

The Sunday Big Bucks tourney has a guarantee of $7,500, and the final pot could reach $20,000 if we reach the maximum 20 entrants. The entry fee is $1,150, and prizes go strictly to the top three. Sunday Big Bucks events are always run in Live-format.

There’ll be another $15 Pick 4 Jackpot tourney on Sunday. Check our home page or our Twitter feed on Saturday night for the Jackpot carryover amount. It will depend on how many played in Saturday’s Pick 4 Jackpot tourney—and whether anyone swept the four races. This, like all our Pick 4 Jackpot games, will be a Pick & Pray.

At HorsePlayers on Sunday, the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge has the featured stage to itself.

The BCBC qualifier is a live-format, low-ratio affair guaranteeing one grand prize. The winning ratio is 1-per-23 in this $500 buy-in test.

Special good wishes to all the HorseTourneys qualifiers who will be competing in the Pegasus World Cup Betting Challenge on Saturday—and also to those striving for “one final acceleration” up the NHC Tour standings that same day.  It promises to be an exciting and eventful weekend.
