The horses for the 2022 Breeders’ Cup were pre-entered yesterday, but the field for the 2022 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge is still taking shape. That shape will change further this weekend—the final weekend of BCBC qualifying—with eight guaranteed, play-ins to the world’s most prestigious live-bankroll contest on tap.
This Saturday also happens to be the final Saturday of the month, which means that the featured cash game of the day will see its guaranteed purse elevated from $30,000 to $50,000 as part of another Month-End Blowout.
Those are just a couple of the highlights of a weekend featured-tourney menu that, as per usual, gets rolling on Friday.
Friday’s marquee cash game—and HT Tour event—is our $15,000 Guaranteed No Limit Pick & Pray. A payment of $190 gets you in the door.
Each day of the weekend, there will be a qualifier for the $250,000 Guaranteed Flo-Cal Faceoff. Friday’s is a $118 Pick & Pray, offering one $1,500 seat to the first leg of the 2023 Tourney Triple per every 15 entrants.
Time for the October 30 Santa Anita BCBC Challenge—playable at Santa Anita or online at Xpressbet—is drawing near. There’s a Friday Pick & Pray qualifier for it in which one of every 15 entrants—at $118 per entry—will grab a $1,500 seat for Sunday, when BCBC seats and cash will be at stake.
It’s a busy weekend at HorsePlayers this week with three featured tourneys each day. On Friday, they will consist of one NHC qualifier and two Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge play-ins.
Friday’s NHC game is a $75 Pick & Pray with two seats guaranteed and a winning ratio of 1-per-143. Entries are limited to three per person. Remember—you must be a 2022 NHC Tour member, prior to the start of the contest, in order to be eligible for an NHC package in this or any other NHC qualifier. The less expensive Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge qualifier on Friday is a $179 buy-in Pick & Pray with one seat guaranteed and an entry fee of $179. The winning ratio works out to 1-per-65.
There’s also a $500 Low Ratio Pick & Pray on the Friday table of contents. Here, the winning ratio is 1-per-23, and, again, one $10,000 entry is guaranteed.
The 10 Friday contest races are the 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th from Keeneland; the 6th and 7th at “Belmont at Aqueduct”; and the 1st, 3rd and 5th from Santa Anita.
Saturday is Month-End Blowout Day.
The Blowout serves as the day’s HT Tour event, and, despite the elevated purse guarantee of $50,000 in this Live-format game, the entry fee remains the same as it is for normal Saturdays—$350.
Saturday is also your final opportunity to win a $1,500 spot in the following day’s Santa Anita BCBC Last Chance contest. It’s a $118, Live-format qualifier with a winning ratio of 1-per-15.
The same price point and winning ratio will be in play for Saturday’s Flo-Cal Faceoff qualifier. The format will be Live.
Joining the weekend fray on Saturday is a qualifier to the on-track Hawthorne Thanksgiving contests on November 26 and 27 (the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving). This qualifier also carries an entry fee of $118, and it has a winning ratio of 1-per-10. Winners get $1,000 with which to fund their $500 starting bankrolls on each day of the two separate contests (one each day) out in the Windy City.
Saturday’s NHC qualifier takes place here at HorseTourneys. It’s a “regular,” $165, Live-format tourney with two spots to the 2023 event guaranteed.
We’ll also offer a qualifier to the $50,000 Guaranteed Exacta Extravaganza on Saturday, and it will be run in Live, Exacta format. In Exacta-format games, players make a mythical, three-horse exacta box selection in each contest race, and there are no price caps in effect. (You get the full payoff added to your score if you land a big one.) Saturday’s Extravaganza qualifier requires $89 in venture capital, and winners (1-per-10) earn a $750 seat for the two-day, exotic tourney here on December 3-4.
The lone Pick & Pray on Saturday is our $10,000 Guaranteed Big Bucks game. It’s an “up-to-$20,000” competition with an entry fee of $1,150—and there is a limit of 20 entries that will be accepted. Payouts go only to the top three finishers with the winner taking the biggest share (70 percent) of the net pool, the runner up getting 20 percent, and the third-place finisher bringing home the remaining 10 percent.
You can also try on Saturday to win a $3,000 entry for the November 26th Del Mar Fall Challenge. Saturday’s Live-format Del Mar play-in charges an entry fee of $236, and one of every 15 entrants will do battle (either on-track or at TVG.com) on the 26th of next month.
Three guaranteed, Live-format qualifiers are set for on Saturday at HorsePlayers. All of them are pegged to the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge.
In ascending order of entry fee…there’s a standard $179 qualifier with one $10,000 BCBC seat certain. The winning ratio is 1-per-65.
For $500, you can take a shot in a 1-per-23 Low Ratio BCBC play-in. One seat is guaranteed here too.
High rollers can up their risk to $1,000…and cut their winning ratio down to 1-per-11…in a guaranteed, Super Low Ratio BCBC qualifier.
Saturday’s 12 contest races are the 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th from Keeneland; the 7th, 9th and 10th at Belmont at Aqueduct; the 7th, 9th and 10th at Woodbine; and races 6 and 7 at Santa Anita. Closing time will be approximately 3:40 pm ET.
Incidentally, this is the final week of the Belmont at Aqueduct meeting. Next week will mark the beginning of the Aqueduct at Aqueduct meet.
The final nine featured tourneys of the weekend take place on Sunday.
As promised, a qualifier to the Flo-Cal Faceoff is again part of the day’s schedule.
Part of the featured-tourney menu for a second straight day are play-ins to the Del Mar Fall Challenge (Live format), the Hawthorne Thanksgiving contests (also Live) and the $50,000 Guaranteed Exacta Extravaganza (Live, Exacta box format).
Sunday’s HT Tour skirmish is our $20,000 Guaranteed, No Limit tourney. An investment of $250 gets you into this Live format game.
Sunday’s Big Bucks game will be operated (as per usual) in Live format. It’s an up-to-$20,000 tourney with a purse guarantee of $7,000. Total entries will again be limited to 20 (at $1,150 per entry), and payouts go solely to the top three finishers.
All six of the above HorseTourneys events are Live-format games. The three features at HorsePlayers on Sunday, though, are all Pick & Prays…
…and on this final Sunday before the Breeders’ Cup, they’re all BCBC qualifiers.
Again, they will be offered at price points of $179, $500 and $1,000…with corresponding winning ratios of 1-per-65, 1-per-23 and 1-per-1,000, respectively. And, again, one $10,000 entry will be guaranteed in all three tourneys.
