First Qualifier to Pegasus World Cup Betting Championship, $50,000 Month-End Blowout and New Multi Entry Mania Tourney Highlight the Thanksgiving Weekend Featured Schedules

The Pegasus World Cup Betting Championship will be back in 2023 (on January 28), and you can win a $6,000 entry for it—plus a $500 travel stipend—for $384 this Sunday when we offer our first qualifier to the prestigious live-bankroll competition.

If the high cost of Thanksgiving groceries have you a little strapped for cash, however, you may want to consider our brand new Multi Entry Mania game this Saturday. It has a guaranteed purse of $1,000, and entries are just $5 each.

Here’s the key twist with our Multi Entry Mania tourneys—each player can purchase up to 15 entries to it.

Make no mistake…properly managing 15 entries (even in a Pick & Pray) is not easy, but some people like doing that. In fact, many people enjoy doing exactly that in Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) contests, so we’re starting a small-scale tourney to see if our players will like it too.

Keep in mind, however, that you need not purchase 15 entries in these games. Actually, the appeal for some in these sorts of games exists in the challenge of handicapping well enough so that your seven or eight entries—or even your one or two entries—can outperform the bulky 15-entry conglomerates that others submit. So the Multi Entry Mania games pose not just a handicapping challenge, but a challenge to determine how many entries will achieve an optimal-value scenario for you relative to your opinions.

We’ll monitor participation in our Multi Entry Mania tourneys to see if we might want to offer them in higher denominations down the road, but to start out, it’s just five bucks to get in the door—and $75 to play the maximum number of entries.

Consider the Pegasus qualifier and the Multi Entry Mania tourney to be new offerings on this year’s Thanksgiving weekend spread. Of course, we’ll still be featuring the turkey, stuffing and other “old reliables” that make up the foundation of any good, traditional menu. The first four of them will be served up on Thursday…Thanksgiving day.

There will be a special, Thursday HT Tour event on Thanksgiving, a $15,000 Guaranteed, No Limit Pick & Pray. You can fill your plate for $190.

Another Thanksgiving Day course is a $118 qualifier to the $250,000 Guaranteed Flo-Cal Faceoff here on January 14-15. The winning ratio is 1-per-15.

The upcoming weekend is the last in which to qualify for the December 3 Lone Star Fall Simulcast Betting Challenge. Thursday’s play-in to it is a $79 Pick & Pray that will see one of every 15 entrants earn a $1,000 berth into the on-track competition.

If you’d rather dine on something a bit more…exotic…on Thanksgiving Day, there’s an $89, 1-per-10 qualifier to the $50,000 Guaranteed Exacta Extravaganza here on December 3-4. Note that this tourney will be run in Live, Exacta box mode whereby you make a three-horse exacta box selection in each race. Winners get a $750 entry for the Extravaganza—which will also be a Live, Exacta Box battle.

Contest races for the featured tourneys on Thanksgiving Day will be the 3rd through 8th from Golden Gate and the 4th through 7th at Del Mar—10 races in all.

The next day, we hope that Black Friday turns into a Green Friday for you.

Friday’s HT Tour competition is a $20,000 Guaranteed, No Limit Pick & Pray. The price tag is $190, and no crowds or long lines are involved.

There will also be another  $118, 1-per-15 Pick & Pray for the Flo-Cal Faceoff. Winners receive  a $1,500 spot in the first leg of the 2023 Tourney Triple.

On the day after Thanksgiving at HorsePlayers, the feature is a tradition every bit as familiar as indigestion and bloatedness.

It’s a $75 NHC Pick & Pray with two seats guaranteed and a winning ratio of 1-per-143. Entries are limited to three per person. Remember—you must be a 2022 NHC Tour member, prior to the start of the contest, in order to be eligible for an NHC package in this or any other NHC qualifier. If you’re not a member, you can become one quickly and easily at NTRA.com for a $50 membership fee.

Subject to change, the Friday featured-tourney races will be the 7th and 9th from Aqueduct; the 7th through 9th at Gulfstream; and the 3rd through 9th from Del Mar. (It’s an extra helping of 12 Friday contest races, rather than the typical 10.)

This Saturday is not just the “Saturday after Thanksgiving”…it’s the final Saturday of the month and, around here, that means something special.

It means it’s time for our $50,000 Guaranteed, No Limit Month-End Blowout, which serves as Saturday’s HT Tour battle. The entry fee is $350 and the format is Pick & Pray.

Also on tap is the aforementioned Multi Entry Mania tourney. Again, it’s $5 per entry with a maximum of 15 entries per person. It’s a No Limit Pick & Pray with a purse guaranteed to be at least $1,000.

Speaking of new (or new-ish) tourneys, we will have another $25 Low Cap, No Limit game on Saturday. Unlike almost all of our other tourneys, the win-and-place payoff caps here will be set at 12-1 (to win) and 6-1 (to place) rather than the usual 20-1 and 12-1. The purse guarantee this week will be $1,500, and it’s a Pick & Pray.

There are two NHC qualifiers slated for Saturday, and one of them is here at HorseTourneys—a “regular,” $165 Pick & Pray. Two spots are certain in this one, and the winning ratio is 1-per-65.

On Saturday (and every day of the holiday weekend), you can participate in a $118 Pick & Pray for the $250,000 Guaranteed Flo-Cal Faceoff. One of every 15 will garner a $1,500 entry for the $250,000 Guaranteed event here in January.

For $79, you can play in a Lone Star Fall Simulcast Betting Challenge Pick & Pray on Saturday. Ponying up the entry fee will get you a 1-in-15 chance at a $1,000 seat for this on-track-only contest taking place December 3 in Texas.

We’ll also have a Saturday qualifier to the $50,000 Guaranteed Exacta Extravaganza here on December 3-4. Once again, it will be run in Live, Exacta box format. Be aware that, in Exacta-format games, there are no price caps in effect. You get the full payoff added to your score if you hit a big one. The barrier to entry in this qualifier is $89.

For the big spenders out there, there’s Saturday’s Big Bucks Pick & Pray. It’s an “up-to-$20,000” game with a purse guarantee of $10,000. Entries—at $1,150 each—are limited to 20 (unless we get a late arrival or two from last-minute Saturday feeders…in which case the pot will exceed $20,000). Payouts go just to the top three finishers with the winner collecting 70 percent of the net pool, the runner up getting 20 percent, and the third-place finisher picking up the remaining 10 percent.

There are two featured tourneys at HorsePlayers on Saturday, including the day’s other NHC qualifier.

The NHC play-in at HorsePlayers is restricted to those who have yet to nail down a 2023 seat. Since it is a restricted competition, no NHC Tour points will be at stake here. The entry fee is $165, the winning ratio is 1-per-65, and at least one berth is certain to be awarded even if fewer than 65 sign up.

There is also a Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge qualifier set to go on Saturday at HorsePlayers. Last week, Evan Trommer became the first on his block to land a $10,000 seat to the 2023 BCBC. This week, you can be the first on yours. All it takes is a $179 entry fee, and some excellent selections. One grand prize is guaranteed in this 1-per-65 game, and the format will be Live.

We wrap up Thanksgiving weekend with eight more featured tourneys, including our first Pegasus World Cup Betting Championship (PWCBC) qualifier.

An upfront stake of $384 will purchase you a 1-in-20 chance at a $6,000 Pegasus entry plus $500 for your travel needs in this Pick & Pray. The PWCBC can be played on-track at Gulfstream or online at Xpressbet. (And if you win our qualifier and play the Pegasus at Xpressbet, you can just pocket the $500 travel money.)

HT Tour competitors will be doing battle on Sunday in our $20,000 Guaranteed, No Limit tourney. It’s a Pick & Pray with an entry fee of $250.

For the fourth straight day, you can take a swing at a $1,500 Flo-Cal Faceoff entry. The entry fee is the same ($118) as is the format (Pick & Pray).

Another Sunday Pick & Pray is the play-in for the Lone Star Fall Simulcast Betting Challenge. If you win this $79 game, you’ll have action in less than a week (December 3).

We switch over to Live format for the Sunday Big Bucks tourney—an up-to-$20,000 affair with a purse guaranteed at $7,000. Total entries are limited to 20 (at $1,150 per entry), and payouts go solely to the top three finishers.

Also in live-format is Sunday’s play-in to the $50,000 Guaranteed Exacta Extravaganza. Again, this particular qualifier will be a three-horse Exacta Box game (not win-and-place). The entry fee is $89 and one in 10 will get a $750 entry for the following weekend (Saturday and Sunday, December 3-4).

The NHC and the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge share the Sunday spotlight over at HorsePlayers.

The NHC qualifier, a Live-format game, carries an entry fee of $210, which works out to a winning ratio of 1-per-50.  Two 2023 seats are guaranteed to be awarded.

The BCBC test is a Low Ratio Pick & Pray. The entry fee is $500; the winning ratio is 1-per-23; and at least one $10,000 seat is certain to be won.

Before we close, we want to send good-luck wishes to all those who will be representing HorseTourneys this weekend as contestants in the Del Mar Fall Challenge and the Hawthorne Thanksgiving Contests.

And we wish you and your loved ones safe travels and a very Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful—all year long—for your support and for the trust you place in us. Have a great holiday weekend.
